ORLANDO, FL – February 11, 2021 – onePULSE Foundation, the not-for-profit established following the June 12, 2016 tragedy to honor and preserve the legacy of those killed and to create a sanctuary of hope, today announced award-winning singer songwriter, actor, author, record producer, and humanitarian Ricky Martin as a national spokesperson and that the partnership kicks off with the launch of the OUTLOVE HATE campaign on Valentine’s Day.

OUTLOVE HATE is a call-to-action to all communities for donations that support the onePULSE Foundation’s mission and vision: to preserve the memory of the 49 Angels taken in the Pulse nightclub shooting, to honor the survivors, first responders and healthcare professionals, and to prevent this tragedy from happening again.

“We are thrilled to have one of the best-selling international music artists of all time join our Pulse family as a national spokesperson,” said Earl Crittenden, onePULSE Foundation board chair. “His global platform allows us to share our mission with even more audiences, ensuring Pulse’s legacy of love lives on forever.”

“I’m excited to assist onePULSE Foundation with engagement and awareness-building opportunities as they build the National Pulse Memorial & Museum,” said Martin. “The OUTLOVE HATE campaign is the perfect way to start our partnership. I ask everyone to join our movement, commit to change and share the love, starting on Valentine’s Day,” added Martin, who recently visited the Pulse Memorial to pay his respects to the 49 people killed in the tragedy.

As an advocate for OUTLOVE HATE, participants upload a selfie on OUTLOVEHATE.COM and make a commitment to the campaign. The site guides them through the simple steps to choose a main color filter for the photo (primary colors represent the onePULSE Foundation values of Love, Hope, Strength, Unity, Courage, and Acceptance), select a background color from 49 different secondary colors being used in the National Pulse Memorial & Museum, issue a commitment statement on their social media channels that promote OUTLOVE HATE, and share it with their followers.

“The goal is to raise $49 million from $49 donations from one million participants,” said Crittenden. “Participation allows you to be a ‘Face of Change’ and part of both a global digital mural and a permanent mosaic tile on display in the Pulse Museum in Orlando, Florida. We invite the world to OUTLOVE HATE today and for generations to come.”

All donations from the OUTLOVE HATE fundraising campaign will go toward building a permanent National Pulse Memorial & Museum and to offer educational programs, community outreach and 49 legacy scholarships.
